Chicks in Bowls are very excited to announce that they have partnered with Riedell to produce the new CIB Slide Blocks

CIB began experimenting with slide blocks in 2012. They saw skaters out creating their own mix and match bits and saw a need for a universal design. They knew we were on to something when the Slider had taken over the skate scene. Now you see blocks of all types on almost every skate! This latest evolution of the CIB Slide Block includes a simple-to-install adapter and features Riedell's signature, proven “twin-fin” design.

“Chicks in Bowls is an organization brimming with enthusiasm and authenticity. To have the opportunity to help the CIB team bring new p...

Merry Skatemas from For Heaven's Skates

March 5, 2016

Electra-Cutie here from CiB Wales and FHSkates.

Last year was super eventful for me, both with skating and personally. As it got later on in the year (and colder) the personal stuff kinda took over the skating. Mainly because I'm soft and don't do well in the cold!

Last year I saw my skating come on in leaps and bounds, I was using my insta account @electra_cutie to log all my new tricks - and stumbles - so it was easy to look back over my progress. I learnt a lot about myself and the way I learn new things. I learnt that I have no balls, that I really ease myself into tricks and do things a little bit at a time. I know at lot of people can relate tio this. For example, learning 360s I did it in a serie...

The first face off in Tier 3, Regional West at Chase Leisure Centre saw Swansea City Roller Derby take on newly promoted Wirral Roller Derby.

Swansea got off to a good start with strong jamming from Coop De gras, Mort and Victory quickly adding points to the board. Wirral looked to be struggling with the pack and failed to monopolise on early powerjams in their favour. Soon though, Wirral started to fight back and Talula Trouble demonstrated her signature solid blocking the crowd were expecting from Wirral. Wirral's jammers were fighting hard but Swansea were being given a comparitively easy pass through the pack. For Swansea City Roller Derby, Mort pulled out some impressive footwork skills squeezing down the...

I'm quiet lucky in that work sends me around the country to random places. If it wasn't for working down there, I don't think I would have gone to the XC. But I'm really glad I did. Don't a bit of googling before hand told me that:

XC Skate and BMX park features the only covered concrete pool and bowl complex in the UK!

Covered concrete pool? Say what? I'm not sure what I thought this meant, but I was expecting some skateable roof type affair. Rather than just a bowl indoors...But what a bowl it is! I'm going to put myself out there and say that this is the best bowl I've skated in in the UK so...

Our Brand Ambassador Liz gives you some insite to help you head out into the skatepark world on your own.

So your friends have training, work, a hangover but you really want to get to the skatepark this week. I've found that a solo skate can seem pretty intimidating at first, but it can be a really fun session and a great way to practice.

My first solo sesh I was staying away at a punk music weekender and decided while the husband was sleeping off his hangover and before the next bands started I would get my skate on. The area had no Chicks in Bowls chapter I could contact so I googled local skateparks and found a great indoor park about 30 minutes drive away. I was pretty nervous, I only really knew one trick...

The lovely folks at For Heaven’s Skates sent me these cute Juice Spiked Series Wheels in Amp (91a durometer) to test.

Here’s what Juice say about their wheels:

“Finally, a refreshing innovation in Derby wheels, developed for players of all abilities. A collaborative partnership between the premier wheel manufacturer and players, the Dual Pour ® technology delivers grip when you need grip, roll when you need roll , and energy when you need it the most. The “Martini Series”® feature an inner urethane core, allowing the running surface of the wheel to remain on the floor longer delivering just the grip you need. Compression on your stroke out drives energy into the core, and then expends it dur...
